APPENDIX 5: The Large Ribosomal Subunit from H. marismortui at 9 Å Resolution

Nenad Ban, Peter B. Moore, Thomas A. Steitz

Abstract

A surface rendering of a 9 Å resolution X-ray map of the large ribosomal subunit shown in the crown view from the side that interacts with the 30S subunit. The projection on the left is ribosomal protein L1, and the RNA arm that supports it. The central protuberance, which includes 5S rRNA is in the top center of the image, and the projection on the right contains ribosomal proteins L7/L12. (Ban et al., Cell 93: 1105 [1998].)
